Just 6” long, this thumb powered engine is made using aluminum bar stock. It incorporates a roller bearing “clutch” that permits the shaft to rotate one way, but not the other. This tiny “clutch” makes for smooth and easy operation. Two gears are used to speed up the ornamental flywheel. The full size plans are seven, 8 ½” x 11” pages with a color picture of the engine, and include sources for the “clutch” and gears. Either of these thumb-powered engines makes a fun piece for your coffee table or desk.
